Unexpected Metamorphosis Alissia Roswell Book 1 eBook Tianna Holley
Unexpected Metamorphosis is a mesmerizing story. Here’s the setting. We have a young woman, a tortured soul. She grew up hiding the evidence of an abusive father and protecting her sister from him. As a consequence, her sister has no idea of his actions, leading to an estranged relationship between the siblings. The mother was weak, abandoning the marriage, but leaving her children to be raised by the father. So Alissia has survived by building an emotional wall, not allowing herself to bond with anyone.
Now, ten years later, her father’s funeral brings her back to the childhood home she had abandoned. And when she goes to retrieve a diary she had secreted beneath the roots of an oak tree, she is sucked violently into another realm.
Have I spoiled the story?
No, all of this happens in the first few pages! Read the sample for yourself!
The plot is twisted and complex. The intrigue is spellbinding. The characters are deep and multi-dimensional. The unpredictable, non-stop action builds to a crisis point at the end of the book.
Even the romantic aspect of the book is non-linear and captivating. The romance is entrancing, but not so over-powering as to be off-putting to male readers. My husband loved the book, devouring both volumes in two days.
I feel I should say something negative to make you know this is a legitimate review, but I honestly have to work hard to find something I didn’t like. Perhaps it would have been fun to observe some of the backstory instead of having Grady explain everything that had happened in the past. But that might have slowed the story down or made the book too long.
The only negative thing I can really say is that the series isn’t finished yet.
Warning… You will want to buy and read the next book.
Warning… You will want to buy and read the third book, but it isn’t written yet. LOL

Unexpected Metamorphosis Alissia Roswell Book 1 eBook Tianna Holley Reviews
Reading is a passion I indulge regularly, and finding a new author is akin to discovering gold. This series looks very promising as a fresh clean tale of supernatural romance. Nothing kills my interest faster than a stilted voice, and Tianna Holley writes a smooth well thought out dialog that keeps me intrigued. Alissa's story has me captivated, and I cannot wait to dive into the next book.
I read this book in one day. I hate that I have to wait til the end of June for the next book. I really enjoyed the characters and their interactions with each other. I also liked how the author worked the animals in the story. I especially didn't want it to end. A good clean story I would recommend for anyone.
Ugh, why couldn't this have been written better? I actually liked the storyline and the characters. But because of the way the author wrote it, the reader was so detached from the story. With the overuse of had, became, and other passive filter words, the action seemed so blasé. AND, what was the obsession over baths? The character took hundreds of them! For roughing it on the road, every night she was clean. The main character, constantly over thought everything. And she "realized" stuff all the time. I just about died, when near the end, several paragraphs were used to describe the dragging of two bodies through the woods. So unnecessary, but hilarious. For some reason I read that scene aloud to my daughter. She thought I was crazy. "Mom, what the heck are you reading?"
Okay, okay. The final wrap up had me drooling, and just about when I wanted to throw this book across the room, that ending made me scream and ask, why, oh why wasn't this written better? It could have been awesome. Not sure if I'd give the squeals a read, unless they are free. I just can't suffer through the writing.
But darn, I really want to know how this love triangle fleshes out. All rats. I need a Reader's Digest version.
Good story with some unique details. My only complaint is the constant repetition, the author repeatedly describes Alissia's personality and how it was affected by her dad's abuse. Yes, we know - you said the exact same thing in the previous chapter. Also, there are a few contradictions such as Alissia being bad at lying yet she's been lying about the abuse her entire life. Nonetheless, the story is interesting and I enjoyed the read. Normally, I especially hate love triangles but I wasn't as bothered by the one developing in the first book with Alissia, Grady, and Luke. That being said, if the love triangle gets too sappy or unrealistic in the second book I will stop reading the series.
Really creative fantasy romance that follows Alissia into a parallel reality in which she is transformed by a secret race into a being with cool powers, and pulled into the beginnings of a political upheaval.
I wasn't sure I liked how easily she believed the worst of Grady, made her seem kind of weak-minded, but I enjoyed the subsequent relationship she developed with Luke. I also didn't like how quickly the author dealt with the person who pulled her through the window. That could have been fleshed out into more of a plot line.
I did like the story, though, overall. I'm a sucker for any hero who can talk to animals. I'm looking forward to reading book two to see if she ever gets to the Lamians, and to find out which guy she ends up with.
This was an inviting story of an alternate reality with a fairyland flavor steeped in political intrigue. There is a love triangle that slowly builds and leaves you unsure who you want to have win the girl. I look forward to the next book! Will she escape, find her way home, figure out what happened to her and why? Who will she decide to trust with her heart? She is a strong, brave, survivor. Her childhood and teen years were ruff and left her cold and guarded. I liked watching her growth and forgiving heart; yet, she is willing to do hard things to protect herself. She has earned my admiration. The four stars and not five are because I felt the beginning was a tad slow starting and the story occasionally choppy causing me to pause and reread a paragraph to discover how I lost my way. Despite these few flaws, I loved it! It was refreshingly different.
